2018 Indoor Tournament News

Now that we are full swing into our indoor season, we would like to remind everyone of a few tournaments that are quickly coming up. Please carefully read the details on each event, as well as which lines our team will be shooting. Hope to see a lot of Middletown green at these shoots, especially Indoor Nationals!

Eastern Seaboard – February 3rd

  • Location: Atlantic Cape Community College – Mays Landing Campus (Mays Landing, NJ)
  • Can Register online or mailing application (available on their site)
  • Shooting the 10am line on February 3rd
  • Arrive by 9am, start shooting at 10am
  • Must wear team shirt and black or khaki pants/shorts/skirt
  • They will have concession, but limited
  • Need to have at least 6-8 arrows and extra nocks
  • Names have to be on your arrows! Use a Sharpie or paint pen
  • Parents/It’s helpful to have binoculars
  • Let Cindy know if you are shooting
  • Cindy will be attending as of right now

Aquarius Star – February 18th

  •  Location: Archery Addictions (Walnutport, PA)
  • This is a Star FITA
  • Applications are on the JOAD wall
  • MUST mail in registration to Archery Addictions (make checks payable to: Archery Addicitons)
  • We have reserved 18 spots for the 12:30pm on Saturday, February 18th
  • This is a good tournament for JOAD archers to get experience
  • Cindy will NOT be attending

U.S. National/JOAD National Indoor Championships – March 2nd-4th 

Location: Eastern Mennonite Univ.-Univ. Commons-Yoder Arena (Harrisonburg, VA)

  • Applications are on the USAA web page (USArchery.org)
  • Archers that have been to this tournament before, convince your fellow archers to join us on for a fun weekend with the team! Let’s bring home the Participation Award!
  • You must Register early to get your time slots!!!

In order to compete, you MUST:

1. Read the instructions
2. Make a selection for time and date for EACH event in which you will compete.
Please remember, these are two separate events. These selections should be made on
the “Indoor National Date and Time Selection Form”

3. Fill out the appropriate registration form for EACH event in which you will compete
4. Review the contact information for the Harrisonburg venue (JMU)
5. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in your registration being delayed or not
processed, and could result in your inability to compete

You need to fill out and mail the applications ASAP!

Fees:
$80.00  Entry Fee for 49th U.S. National Indoor Championships (Must Reg. by Feb 9)

Additional $40.00 late fee (Feb. 10-16)

$40.00 Entry Fee for 2018 JOAD National Indoor Championships (Must Reg. by Feb 9)

Additional $20.00 late fee  (Feb 10-16)

Families using the Family cap- must use mail-in form

Miscellaneous Information:

  • JOAD Round will be Friday, March 2nd @ 4pm
  • We will be shooting the 12pm line for the Indoor National Round on Sat. and Sun (March 3rd-4th)
  • Must register on-line with USAA
  • Must be a member of USAA. Register or renew on line
  • Scores from the Junior and Cadet divisions will be used as qualifying scores for selection to the 2018 Junior United States Archery Team (Jr.  USAT).  
  • Need to arrive 1 hr. before shooting time and set up equipment
  • Equipment Inspection will take place 1 hour prior to shooting
  • Look on walls for target assignments
  • No practice area
  • Concessions on site- pizza, hot dogs, cold drinks, and snacks. Bring your own food and drinks too
  • Suggest bringing folding chairs. Will be more comfortable than the folding chairs
  • Parents: it’s helpful to bring scope or binoculars
  • Please make sure you’re wearing either khaki or black pants/shorts/skirt and JOAD team shirt on Friday and Sunday. Saturday wear green spirit wear shirt
  • NO JEANS/CAMO or LEGGINGS. All leggings must have a front pocket
  • Shooting will last about 3 hours
  • Need to have at least dozen arrow and extra nocks
  • Names have to be on your arrows. Use a Sharpie or paint pen
  • Need back up string and finger tab for recurve

Hotel Information:

  • Hampton Inn University -540- 432-1111, 85 University Blvd. Harrisonburg, Va
  • Rate $99 per night
  • Mention Middletown Jr. Olympians Archery Team to get your rate
  • Have reserved doubles and kings
  • Rooms are reserved for 3/1-3/3. Let them know what days you need
  • Reservations must be received by 2/8/18
  • Cancellation Policy-48 hrs. Prior to day or arrival
  • Check-in 3pm; check-out 11am
  • They have continental breakfast, workout room, and wifi

Directions to Site:

From I-81 – Take Exit 251 to US-11. Take a left onto US-11 south to Mt. Clinton Pike (2.4 m). Take a right onto Mt. Clinton Pike (west) to College Avenue (1.7m). Take a right onto Park Rd. and University commons (1307 Park Rd) will be ahead on your left (.3m)

PA State Indoor JOAD – April 7th

  • Location: PA Farm Show Building (Harrisburg, PA)
  • Applications should be filled out and turned into Coach Cindy by February 24th
  • CLICK HERE f0r the form to pre-order t-shirts
  • This is a great tournament for JOAD archers to get experience shooting a tournament
  • Will need to bring you own food. Arrive by 4:00pm. Start shooting @ 5pm
  • It takes a good 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours to get there from the club. Please allow enough time
  • Cindy is attending as of now (This may change if she goes to AZ. Cup)
  • Please make sure you’re wearing either khaki or black pants/shorts/skirt and team shirt
  • The shoot will last about 3 hours
  • Chairs provided for archer and extra for family. Usually the 1 st 2 rows are reserved for archers
  • Need to have at least 6-8 arrows and extra nocks
  • Names have to be on your arrows. Use a Sharpie or paint pen
  • Parents: it’s helpful to have binoculars
